Chapter 7: Resolving Interpersonal Conflict
Previously, we examined dynamics that often lead to relational conflict. By conflict, we don’t necessarily mean a dramatic fight, although it could be. Conflict arises when we perceive the other in the relationship to have different goals than our own. This can lead to any level of conflict from ignoring the issue to “having it out.” In this chapter, we will dive deeper into relationship conflicts and more importantly discuss how to handle conflict effectively. When handled effectively, conflict can strengthen relationships by building trust and increasing relational satisfaction.
