Wrapping Up

Cause and Effect in a Nutshell

When you write a cause and effect essay, you’re discussing events that lead to certain results. You must do proper research to be sure that you aren’t stating obvious causes. In your research, you may find remote causes or a causal chain. Use these causes to strengthen your essay. Remember to avoid confusing time sequencing with causality. Just because something occurs before something else, does not mean it’s the cause.
