Time to Write

A pen on a diary

Now, it’s your turn to complete a rough draft for your research essay. You have a lot to consider when you draft. You’ll be thinking about using your sources, supporting your thesis, building strong paragraphs, and maintaining focus. But your notes and outline will help you through this process.

It’s also important to keep in mind that this is just your rough draft. You’ll want to get your ideas down and do your best to integrate your sources, but you don’t want to put too much pressure on yourself. Good writers will revise many times from the rough draft, so this means your rough draft doesn’t have to be anywhere near perfect. Writing a strong paper is a process.

Remember your first draft is never your final draft!
