Book Organization

Español 102 consists of six thematically organized chapters presenting essential communicative functions, structures, and cultural information about Spanish-speaking countries.

  • Each chapter begins with a page that will list the theme of the activities and let students know what they should be able to do by the end of the chapter.
  • The image displayed on the first page will introduce an artist from the featured country of each chapter.
  • All chapters have the same organizational structure, and the content is presented as follows:
Vocabulario
  • Presented in a meaningful context
  • Introduced through visual images
  • Vocabulary list with audio (flashcards)
  • Practice individually, with a partner, a small group, or the whole class.
Mosaicos culturales
  • Exposes students to different aspects of Hispanic Culture
  • These cultural aspects are related to the chapter’s theme
  • Y ahora Uds... Questions to encourage students to reflect on their own cultural experiences
Estructuras gramaticales
  • Provides directed and communicative practice
  • Additional tutorial videos to support your learning
  • Sample videos with native speakers to model some oral and writing activities
Escritura
  • Writing activity that incorporates the vocabulary, structures, and themes covered in each chapter
Cultura
  • Presents key facts about the featured country
  • Música is designed to encourage students to listen to and appreciate the featured country’s musical culture.
  • Short biography of an important cultural figure in the featured country
Lectura
  • Selected reading about the featured country
