How is this book organized?

This book is divided into modules.

Module 1 presents the basics required to understand and master the general principles of organic chemistry. Module 2 consists of a detailed study of hydrocarbons, compounds that contain only carbon and hydrogen atoms. Module 3 focuses on oxygen containing organic compounds while module 4 presents nitrogen containing compounds.

Throughout the book, you will find various OER resources, both texts and videos, that will help you understand the topics. In addition, short recordings known as pencasts, are available to further clarify important or difficult concepts. You will also find a variety of interactives such as non-graded quizzes, matching activities etc., to help you test your understanding of key concepts.

The book also consists of colored boxes. The RED boxes present the module-level objectives and topic-level objectives. The GREEN boxes present the key takeaways of a particular topic. The BROWN boxes are solved example exercises. The BLUE boxes present interactive activities to enhance your learning process.
