20 All About Transfer
Goals of Your Time at MCC
Is your goal to earn a bachelor’s degree? Or will you need to go to another college to finish the program you are interested in? If you take classes at one college or university and finish somewhere else, you will be a transfer student. Students at MCC will generally finish an associate’s degree that covers the first half of the bachelor’s degree. The introductory classes you take at MCC are 100- and 200-level lower division courses which prepare you for upper division 300- and 400- division courses. While there are benefits to transferring with an associate’s degree, you can transfer without earning one. Below you will learn a bit more about the transfer process.
What to Consider When Transferring
Each university has its own admissions requirements and some degree programs will have additional requirements such as business, nursing, art, music, or education.
When transferring to a university in a new city, consider the surroundings and seasons. Does it match how you are comfortable living? Will you live on or off campus? What is the transportation and parking situation how much is transportation and parking? How much does in-state, out-of-state, and online tuition cost? You may want to take a course online when you come home for the summer.
The vast majority of classes that MCC offers are transferable, but that does not mean that they will apply toward your degree.
This is why it is important to explore your transfer options, review your FOI, and meet with an advisor to make sure you are taking the correct courses.
