“College Resources”, Why do I want to know about them?
“The more I help others to succeed, the more I succeed.” –Ray Kroc, founder of the McDonald’s franchise business.
This statement could not be more true with community colleges. The more MCC can help you, it will not only increase MCC’s successes and potentially your own academic, personal, and professional successes. Using college resources is a win-win! Don’t wait, let’s get started.
As a student here at Mesa Community College it is advantageous to know exactly where you can get help. Please watch the following videos to learn how a couple of students have used campus resources to be successful.
Now let’s dive a little deeper into each resource and answer, “Why would I want or need this resource?” Please be sure to read all resources below as the information may come in handy for assignments in your course.
Academic Advising: Academic Advisors help you develop academic and career goals while focusing on your Field of Interest (FOI), review degree requirements and determine if you are on track to graduate and/or transfer (help you recognize prerequisites), explore university transfer options, and identify beneficial college resources. You will need to schedule an appointment with your FOI advisors.

The DRS office strives to create a vital learning environment that provides resources, services and auxiliary aids necessary to allow each qualified student with a disability the opportunity to pursue academic, occupational, developmental and personal enrichment goals. DRS offices insure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008. All medical and psychological documentation is kept confidential. DRS campus offices also coordinate accommodations for students who are protected by MCCCD’s Title IX and Preventing Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination policies. This includes, but is not limited to, students who are pregnant or parenting. Some services provided are:
- Testing accommodations
- Alternate, or alternative, textbook formats (audio, digital, Braille)
- Auxiliary Services (CCTV, FM System)

Financial Aid & Scholarships: Financial aid is available to help fund your educational goals, even if your family can’t afford to pay up front. It comes in the form of grants, loans, Federal Work-Study, and scholarships. Financial aid can be used to help you pay your full cost of attendance, which includes tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, as well as transportation to and from school.
Your eligibility for financial aid is dependent on your demonstrated financial need or, in the case of some scholarships, a special ability or talent. Because there are many factors that affect your eligibility for financial aid, it’s important that you apply each year, even if you think you won’t qualify. Financial aid is available for full-time as well as part-time students. To apply for financial aid, follow the steps to apply.
