1 Understanding the Assignment

The first step in writing a paper is understanding the assignment. This is critical because all the work that will proceed will be based on their understanding of expectations. Students can ensure they are understanding the assignment by reading the instructions thoroughly, asking the teacher questions, and also following up with the professor regarding potential ideas.  Even the most exceptionally written papers will lose points if they do not follow the instructions of the assignment.
