Google Workspace – Accessibility Checker Add-Ons

Introduction

Creating accessible digital content is an essential part of fostering inclusion and ensuring that everyone can engage fully with information and learning materials. While Google Workspace tools like Docs, Slides, and Sheets include some built-in accessibility features, these features alone do not always identify every barrier that a person with a disability may encounter.

Add-on accessibility checkers provide an extra layer of support by analyzing your documents, presentations, and spreadsheets for potential accessibility issues that may not be visible to sighted users or detectable by standard editing tools. These add-ons evaluate critical elements, such as text contrast, heading structure, image alternative text, table formatting, and document readability. By using them, creators can receive specific guidance on what to fix and how to fix it. The district-wide add-on to use in Google Workspace is Grackle Workspace.
