15 How do you find an op-ed or other opinionated article on the Internet?

If you have been assigned to write about a topic, reading op-eds is a great way to begin to understand the conversation surrounding your topic. Here are some suggestions on how to find an op-ed or other opinionated article online.

To find an op-ed on the web:

Search your topic using key words and add the words “opinion” or “commentary” or “editorial” or “op-ed” to your search.

Most opinionated articles are clearly marked as such. Commentaries, editorials, and op-eds are all forms of opinionated articles you will often find in periodicals.

Experiment with adding a website/periodical name to your search to find results that might not typically make it to your first page of results:

Some conservative leaning websites

NY Post, National Review, Fox News, The Federalist, Reason Magazine, The Hill

Some liberal leaning websites

The New York Times, CNN, The LA Times, Bloomberg, Politico, Washington Post
