How to Use This Book

Welcome to Using Research to Support Scholarly Writing.  This pressbook has been prepared by reading and English faculty from Scottsdale and Glendale Community Colleges.  Our varied perspectives represent different levels of technical and instructional expertise.  Our diversity has encouraged us to share ideas which integrate critical reading and thinking concepts that are useful in many of our course activities.

The team intends for this set of materials to supplement your current framework for meeting the competencies for ENG102, specifically

  • Find, evaluate, select, and synthesize both online and print sources that examine a topic from multiple perspectives. (I, III)
  • Integrate sources through summarizing, paraphrasing, and quotation from sources to develop and support one`s own ideas. (III, IV).
