Organic Chemistry: Fundamental Principles, Mechanisms, Synthesis and Applications

Sujatha Krishnaswamy

Executive Summary

The goal of this textbook is to provide a strong foundation of introductory organic chemistry. The book focuses on deep understanding of structure-reactivity relationships by illustrating how structural changes influence reactivity. Examples and exercises provide review of both basic concepts as well as applications to new structures and situations. In addition, the book addresses synthesis of organic compounds and greener reagents and methodologies. The book has many interactive exercises, videos and other activities to keep students engaged.

The book is organized as modules. Each module focuses on a specific organic compound or reaction. Each module has the same structures: learning objectives, chapters, interactive H5P exercises, videos, examples, exercises and end of module quiz. End-of-module quizzes are linked to Canvas and set to auto transfer the grade from Pressbooks to Canvas grade book.

The book can be used by Fundamental Organic Chemistry and General Organic Chemistry I and II courses in MCCCD and other schools/universities.
