Maricopa Community College Course Competency Alignment

This textbook aligns with many MCCCD course specific competencies that include research, writing, and information literacy instruction. Here are several examples of current MCCCD course specific alignment:

ENG 101: 

  • Course Competency #4: Summarize, paraphrase and quote from sources to maintain academic integrity and to develop and support one`s own ideas.

ENG 102:

  • Course Competency #6:  Identify, select and use an appropriate documentation style to maintain academic integrity.

IFS 110:

  • Course Competency #4: Demonstrate practices for the ethical use of information, including tools for properly citing information.

Diverse Citation & Text Examples

The book incorporates diverse author examples and subject area examples and strives to be an inclusive text. The most common reference source types were selected as examples to directly support student research needs.
